| World Scientific Congratulates Shoucheng Zhang, Editorial Board Member of International Journal of Modern Physics B, on his significant contribution to the ground-breaking discovery of the Majorana Fermion. |
Shoucheng Zhang, C.J. Wood Professor of Physics at Stanford University, together with his collaborators, pioneered a series of laboratory experiments on exotic matter which yielded compelling evidence on the existence of the elusive Majorana fermion. It is part of a class of particles that are also their own anti-particles. According to Zhang, the discovery of the Majorana fermion concludes one of the most intensive searches in fundamental physics. The discovery has been lauded by physicists, including Nobel Laureates, as "a really clean observation of something new", and "a landmark in the field". |
