"I'll go anywhere as long as it's forward,"
said Scottish missionary and explorer, 1813-1873

orld Scientific (WS) is certainly a firm follower of this saying, for the later half of the year 2003 and early this year continued to see us going forward at home (in Singapore) and overseas. We attended the Third International Convention of Asian Scholars (ICAS3) held in Singapore in August 2003. The convention attracted more than 800 delegates from all parts of the world. Our marketing colleagues also made our presence felt at two other events held in Singapore, namely the International Conference on Materials for Advanced Technologies (ICMAT) and the Second Asia-Pacific Workshop on Quantum Information Science. The two events attracted many from the Physics community in places such as India, China, Taiwan, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
A representative from World Scientific's New Jersey office also took part in the Allied Social Science Association Annual Meeting (ASSA) in San Diego from 3 to 5 January 2004. Approximately 100 companies were promoting their products at the event. They included international publishers, software companies, and non-profit organizations such as the United Nations, World Bank and International Monetary Fund.
Cash registers also kept ringing in Taiwan where at least six bookish "affairs" took place, such as the 12th International Congress of Oriental Medicine and the Taipei International Book Exhibition.
The rest of this year will continue to bustle with activities, with WS displaying our books at events that attract people from all walks of life and in places including India, Beijing, Frankfurt, USA, Poland and London.
